According to statistics from the financial statements of 28 banks, the total profit after tax in 2022 of banks reached VND 196,450 billion, up 33.8% over the previous year.
The top 10 banks with the highest profit after tax include Vietcombank, Techcombank, BIDV, MB, VietinBank, VPBank, ACB, VIB, HDBank and SHB.
In particular, Vietcombank continues to be the leading bank with after-tax profit of VND 29,912 billion, up nearly 36% compared to the previous year. Techcombank holds the second position with a profit after tax of VND 20,436 billion, up 11% compared to 2021.
Following are BIDV, MB and VietinBank. BIDV's pre-tax profit grew strongly by 70.2% to VND 18,453 billion while VietinBank also recorded a growth of 37.7% to VND 17,483 billion.
MB is in the 4th place with a profit after tax of VND 17,483 billion, up 37.7% compared to the previous year.
In addition, the remaining banks in the top 10 include VPBank, ACB, VIB, HDBank and SHB. The total profit after tax of these 10 banks reached VND 158.253 billion, accounting for 80.6% of the total profit of 28 banks.
In terms of growth, the majority of banks had double-digit profit after tax growth.
Eximbank is the bank with the strongest growth with profit after tax in 2022 reaching VND 2,944 billion, nearly three times higher than in 2021 (VND 1,021 billion).
Banks with high profit growth also include BIDV (up 70.2%), LienVietPostBank (up 57%), SeABank (up 55.6%), Saigonbank (up by nearly 55%), SHB (up by nearly 54%), PG Bank (up 53.6%), etc.
On the other hand, there were 4 banks that recorded a decline in the past year, namely OCB (down 20.3%), ABBank (down 13%), KienlongBank (down 29.3%) and NCB.
