Officially appeared in Vietnam in the late 1990s, financial leasing has gradually proven its importance to small and medium-sized enterprises and large enterprises which are in the process of rapid development with increasing capital demand. Despite having around 20 years of development in Vietnam, financial leasing is not as strongly and rapidly developed as was expected.
The operating scale of financial leasing companies is still quite limited. At the beginning of 2020, the total outstanding loan for finance leasing was about 90,000 billion VND - a relatively small scale compared to the scale of the system of credit institutions. The size of the financial leasing market in Vietnam is still quite small, so there is a huge potential and room for the development of the market in the near future.
