Top 5 largest FMCG companies in Vietnam

FMCG industry is one of the most fiercely competitive industries, so only a few businesses can survive and stand firmly in the market. Following are details of the biggest FMCG companies in Vietnam compiled by VietnamCredit.

1. VIETNAM DAIRY PRODUCTS JOINT STOCK COMPANY

Vinamilk has just made a "hat-trick" in the Vietnam Brand Footprint 2022 report published by Worldpanel, Kantar. This is also a milestone marking more than a decade of Vinamilk appearing in the leading positions in this prestigious report on the FMCG industry.

According to the financial report for the third quarter of 2022 released by Vinamilk, the total revenue of the company reached VND 16,094 billion, which is stable compared to the same period last year. Notably, revenue in the third quarter of 2021 recorded a record level, surpassing VND 16,000 billion for the first time.

This business result was bolstered by the steady dairy consumption. At the same time, Vinamilk is also implementing many strong repositioning and restructuring projects to better serve consumers and maximize available advantages in terms of brand, economic scale, and financial strength.

The foreign market recorded a net revenue of VND 2,304 billion, of which foreign branches recorded a net revenue of VND 1,117 billion, an impressive growth of 26.1% over the same period. In particular, 2 subsidiaries - Driftwood recorded an increase of nearly 30% in revenue thanks to a fully recovered demand from schools and revenue of Angkormilk increased by over 20% thanks to effective market development activities. Direct export recorded a net turnover of VND 1,187 billion.

After deducting expenses, Vinamilk achieved a consolidated profit after tax of VND 2,363 billion - the highest level in the last 4 quarters and an increase of 10.5% compared to the previous quarter.

In the first 9 months of 2022, Vinamilk completed 70% of the year plan with total revenue of VND 44,994 billion. Its consolidated profit after tax reached VND 6,748 billion, equivalent to EPS of VND 2,835.

According to a report by Brand Finance, Vinamilk is valued at $2.814 billion, an impressive increase of 18% compared to 2021, becoming the 6th largest milk brand in the world. In particular, Vinamilk has surpassed 2 other big brands to take the position of the most potential milk brand in the world.

2. UNILEVER VIETNAM INTERNATIONAL COMPANY LIMITED

Starting business in Vietnam in 1995, Unilever has invested more than USD 300 million with a modern manufacturing plant in Ho Chi Minh City and Bac Ninh province. Through a network of more than 150 distributors and over 300,000 retailers, Unilever Vietnam has provided direct jobs to more than 1,500 people and more than 15,000 indirect jobs for Vietnames people.

Currently, many of Unilever's brands including OMO, P/S, Clear, Pond's, Knorr, Lifebuoy, Sunsilk, VIM, Lipton, Sunlight, VISO, Rexona have become household names in Vietnam. It is estimated that every day about 35 million Unilever products are used by consumers nationwide, which helps to improve living, health and hygiene conditions for all Vietnamese people.

3. MASAN CONSUMER CORPORATION

Masan Consumer Corporation is a subsidiary of Masan Consumer Holdings. This is one of the largest consumer goods companies in Vietnam.

Masan Consumer's key brands include Nam Ngu, Chinsu, Tam Thai Tu, Omachi, Kokomi, Heo Cao Boi, Vinacafe, Phil Café, Wake-up, Wake-up 247, Vinh Hao, Viviant, Lemona, Quang Hanh and Faith. In which, there are many brands that have been voted as the fastest growing and most trusted brands in Vietnam over the years.

The net revenue growth of Masan Consumer Corporation in both fiscal year 2021 and the fouth quarter of 2021 is 20% and 32.3%, respectively.

In the food sector, convenience foods and complete meal solutions increased by 45% over the same period. In particular, Omachi cup noodles has tripled in sales. Masan's premium products grew by more than 27%.

4. SUNTORY PEPSICO VIETNAM BEVERAGE CO., LTD

Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage Company is the leading beverage company in Vietnam. Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam was officially established in April 2013, with 100% foreign capital. It is a joint venture between PepsiCo Vietnam and Suntory Holdings Limited beverage group. Its head office is located on the 5th Floor, Sheraton Hotel, 88 Dong Khoi, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

Currently, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam is the leading company in the field of non-alcoholic beverages in Vietnam. Currently, Nestlé Vietnam is operating 04 factories producing food and beverage products located in Dong Nai and Hung Yen, and employs more than 2,000 employees nationwide. All Nestlé factories in Vietnam are designed and built to meet the highest standards of quality while always complying with Vietnamese laws on environmental protection.
