Skytrax Star Ratings are recognised as an Oscar award of airlines around the world. Accordingly, airlines are rated based on 20.36 million surveys, and the highest score is 5 stars. Grading is based on factors including on-board services, ground services, airports, with 49 categories.
Among airlines rated by Skytrax, 12 are rated 5 star, of which 9 airlines are from Asia. Two Southeast Asian airlines – Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines – are in this list.

According to the rating of Skytrax, only one Vietnamese airline - Vietnam Airlines - is listed as one of 100 best airlines in the world. Vietnam Airlines ranked 50 out of 100 leading airlines, down 3 places from 2017.
Vietnam Airlines is one of 12 airlines in Asia rated 4 stars. There are 42 airlines rated at this level.
Two other Vietnamese airlines, Vietjet Air and Jetstar Pacific, are not in this group.
Vietnam Airlines is rated 4 stars by Skytrax for the third time thanks to their service quality in economy flex class - long-haul flights, economy class – long-haul flights, business class – short-haul flights and economy class – short-haul flights.
Only business class – long-haul flights of this airline do not meet the 4-star standards.
