Online Friday - Vietnam’s biggest online shopping festival - was launched

Friday 20, 11 2020
Online Friday is Vietnam's biggest online shopping festival held by the Ministry of Industry and Trade with this year's theme "Superstar, Supersale".
Vietnam's online shopping festival 2020 (Online Friday) with the "Superstar, Supersale" theme was officially launched on November 19th in Hanoi to bring practical benefits for both consumers and businesses, from manufacturers, distributors to infrastructure service providers for e-commerce.

The "Online Friday 2020" launching ceremony had the attendance of Mr. Dang Hoang Hai, Director of the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency and Head of the Program Organizing Committee along with Heads of The Departments of Industry and Trade, and typical enterprises in the e-commerce sector.
 Online Friday
This is the biggest online shopping program in Vietnam hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and organized by the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency. With over 10,000 websites, businesses, and traders from various industries and sectors, this online shopping day will offer millions of products of many different categories. This long-awaited “60 hours of online shopping” event will take place from 0:00 December 4th to 12:00 December 6th, 2020.

After 6 years of organization, the program has attracted a large number of businesses in the e-commerce sectors and consumers.

According to Mr. Dang Hoang Hai, despite the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam's economy in 2020 has seen an impressive growth rate. This partly reflects the stable supply and demand on the market. People still maintain their shopping needs; meanwhile, enterprises constantly adapt to new business situations.

Notably, the total sales of businesses participating in this shopping day in 2014 were only VND 160 billion. However, in 2019, there were 3,840 businesses with 95,000 products. The total transaction value in 24 hours of the program was estimated at over VND 25,000 billion.

Therefore, with Online Friday 2020, Mr. Dang Hoang Hai hopes this even will not only help consumers to purchase high-quality products at affordable prices but also support businesses to expand the cooperation chances, promoting the overall economic development.

The biggest change of this year’s Online Friday

Mr. Le Duc Anh, Director of the Center for Informatics and Digital Technology (the E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency) informed of a big change in businesses' participating method through the nationwide common voucher (#OnlineFriday2020 and #MuasamVietNam).
Especially, consumers can hunt vouchers with discounts, free shipping, or exclusive gifts through interactive activities held at many different locations such as shopping malls, store chains, official fan page, and website. This program is expected to increase consumption and develop businesses in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
