Enterprises in Vietnam and Kazakhstan have a great demand for cooperation

At noon 14/11, at the Government headquarters, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received Mr. Nurlan Nigmatulin, Chairman of the House of Representatives of Kazakhstan, one of the five members of the European Economic Union (EAEU), an alliance with FTA with Vietnam.

The Prime Minister said that Nurlan Nigmatulin's visit will open a new chapter for bilateral relations, especially in the field of trade and investment cooperation.

Recently, the traditional friendship relations between Vietnam - Kazakhstan continue to develop well. Political and external relations between the two countries have been strengthened through high-level visits.

The highest priority is given to issues related to Vietnam

Speaker of the House of Representatives Nurlan Nigmatulin stated that the two countries have quite similar economic development and Vietnam is an important partner of Kazakhstan in Southeast Asia. The first president of Kazakhstan, Nazarbayev, affirmed that he attaches importance to promoting cooperation with Vietnam, and the incumbent President Tokayev has inherited that.

Mr. Nurlan Nigmatulin said that he and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan had a successful meeting, whereby the two sides' National Assembly will create the most favorable conditions to promote bilateral development. In this context, the Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (FTA) - the Eurasian Economic Union - is very important. Vietnam was the first country to sign FTAs with the Union, after that, many countries signed FTAs and 40 other countries are negotiating with the Union.

Referring to the bilateral relationship, he said that bilateral trade relations have developed strongly over the past time, but in reality, the two sides still have a lot of potentials, especially in the fields of agriculture, light industry, transportation, logistics, and travel. The businesses of the two countries are increasingly concerned, expressing the need for the great cooperation. He cordially invites Vietnamese partners to join in business and cooperation in Kazakhstan.

He learned that the Government of Vietnam is developing a number of programs on strategies for industrial development, energy, infrastructure construction, and Vietnamese brand promotion. Kazakhstan is also implementing a series of strategic measures.

Recently, Kazakhstan has applied a visa exemption policy for Vietnamese citizens within 30 days and hopes that Vietnam will take similar measures soon. The establishment of a direct flight between the two countries has the practical effect of promoting trade and investment development, a bridge for businesses of both sides, promoting people-to-people exchange and tourism development. Mr. Nurlan Nigmatulin affirmed that all issues related to Vietnam were reviewed and resolved by the Lower House of Representatives of Kazakhstan with the highest priority.

Promoting deep, substantive cooperation

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that in order to deepen and substantive cooperation between the two countries, the two sides actively maintained high-level delegation exchanges and high-level contacts, contributing to strengthening the trust and filial piety, creating a driving force to promote cooperation between the two countries. Vietnam wants Kazakhstan to actively support the maintenance of peace, stability and development, and the resolution of disputes through peaceful means, diplomatic negotiations, and respect for international law.

The Prime Minister assessed that economic and trade relations between the two countries were increasingly strengthened. The implementation of FTA Vietnam - Eurasian Economic Union in 2016 brought positive changes in economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

The Prime Minister suggested that the two sides assess the reality of the implementation of the FTA Vietnam - Eurasian Economic Union, draw experience and propose effective measures to continue the effective implementation of the Agreement; taking advantage of the preferential tariffs brought by the Agreement to boost import and export between the two countries. Actively promote the implementation of the achieved results of the 9th meeting of Vietnam - Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Committee meeting in Nursultan.

The two sides should continue to promote the exchange of business delegations, organize trade fairs, exhibitions and business forums in both countries; promote investment cooperation. In addition, the two sides need to pay attention to further cooperation in other potential areas such as agriculture, education, and training, science and technology, sports culture, tourism to achieve effective results, contributing to promoting bilateral relations. According to the aviation industry in Vietnam, which is developing very strongly, the Prime Minister welcomed the opening of direct flights between the two countries.
