Following is the news brief on Vietnam’s banking industry for the 18th week of 2021 compiled by VietnamCredit.

+ Tien Phong Commercial Joint Stock Bank (TPBank) cooperates with Asian Development Bank (ADB) to launch a support package for women-owned businesses. This support package's purpose is to support these businesses in recovering their business operations. The package worths up to 5 million USD and is implemented following the Grant aid agreement – extracted from the Financial Initiative for Women Entrepreneurs (We-Fi) Fund entrusted by ADB. This special package is expected to assist women-owned businesses in Vietnam.

+ Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade of Vietnam (Techcombank) has just announced business results for the first quarter of 2021 with a pre-tax profit of 5.5 trillion VND, up by 76.8% compared with 2020. The bank's capital position remains strong, as proven by its Capital Adequacy Ratio under Basel II standard at 15.8%.

+ Vietnam International Commercial Joint Stock Bank (VIB) has recently introduced the “Online Plus 2in1”, the first card in South East Asia that can serve as a payment card and a credit card. Online Plus 2in1 integrates both credit cards and international payment cards on one card, convenient for storage and payment. Users can transact with only one card, one touch, one click.

+ Recently, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Software and Information Technology Services Association (VINASA) held a ceremony to announce and award the Sao Khue Award 2021. As announced in the ceremony, in 2021, the VCB Digibank service of Vietcombank is one among a few products/services in the field of Accounting – Financing to be highly evaluated and honored by the prize’s committee.

+ The Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has just approved the  Viet Capital Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Ban Viet Bank) proposal to establish its four branches and 19 transaction offices domestically. Specifically, the new branches are the Ban Viet Bank – Thai Nguyen branch, Ban Viet Bank – Bac Giang branch, Ban Viet Bank – Dak Nong branch, Ban Viet Bank – Binh Phuoc branch.

+ National Citizen Commercial Joint Stock Bank (NCB) has just published its financial report for the first quarter of 2021. According to the report, NCB business activities have achieved many positive results. Specifically, net profit from operating activities increased 3.2 times over the same period. This result comes from services, foreign exchange trading, securities investment, etc. As a result, profit after tax increased by 80.5% compared with the same period in 2020.

Kien Long Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Kienlongbank) has just published its financial report for the first quarter of 2021. Kienlongbank main operational targets achieved are as follows: Total consolidated assets reached VND 61,942 billion (an increase of 8.14% compared to 2020); total mobilized capital is 55,933 billion Dong (increased by 7.42% compared to 2020); total credit outstanding balance reached 35,747 billion (an increase of 2.97% compared to 2020), etc.

+ Genetica - A genetic testing unit that owns exclusive core technology for Asians, and Southeast Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SeABank, stock code SSB) has officially collaborated to provide gene decoding services with many attractive offers. + An Binh Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ABBANK) has just launched a series of attractive policies for customers.
