Forecast for the second quarter

It is forecasted that Vietnam's tea exports will grow positively in the second quarter of 2022, thanks to positive signals from the import market.

Specifically, the trend of tea consumption increases because consumers have to stay at home more. Tariff incentives from Free Trade Agreements such as EVFTA, CPTPP, etc., also bring advantages to the tea industry in the current fierce competition.

tea-producing

Many tea-producing countries have had production interruptions due to COVID-19 and dry weather, disrupting the supply chain of tea in the global market. Notably, India, one of the world's major tea production and consumption markets, is being seriously affected by the pandemic and drought in the main tea-growing areas.

However, favorable weather conditions in the main tea-producing markets such as Kenya and Sri Lanka caused supply to increase. With demand has not increased much, increased supply pressure will lead to lower export prices. That is also the main factor hindering the growth rate of Vietnam's tea industry in the coming time.
